Hey Massage and Breathwork Enthusiast
Who am I and how do I practice massage? Let me tell you.
Who am I?
My name is Megan Godfrey. I have been a licensed massage therapist in New Orleans, Louisiana for 7 and a half years. I graduated from Delgado’s Massage Therapy program in the summer of 2017 and had a blast nerding out on learning anatomy and the way the body moves. I practice intuitive therapeutic massage. I have a unique flow to massage which includes slow myofascial release, relaxing Swedish movements mixed with deep muscle relaxation, cupping, and energy work. When a person comes to me with pain, I try to listen to what they’re telling me and use my hands to uncover the story of their body. This means that if a person tells me they have headaches, I’ll explore tension in their shoulders and hips which may contribute to their pain. I love helping all kinds of people from runners, to office workers, to tired parents, people with chronic pain and autoimmune issues, and absolutely love working on people expecting babies. I enjoy creating healing for a variety of different bodies which includes all body shapes, races, genders, and identities. I have training in cupping, ashiatsu, reiki (since 2003), prenatal work, myofascial work, and conscious connected breathwork (since 2020). I named my practice Myristica which is Latin for “Nutmeg”, my nickname. When I am not practicing healing work, I am enjoying the beautiful city with my daughter, baking, writing, camping, and ya know, music and king cakes! I offer BIPOC scholarships, low-income discounts, and a fibromyalgia discount in honor of my dad. If you would like to see what massage can open up for you, I would love to do great work with you!
